Postdoctoral Fellow in Tumor Immunology
The Reeves Lab is recruiting a motivated postdoc to help us study how tumor heterogeneity impacts the immune response to cancer. We have built a novel in vivo system to model tumor heterogeneity, in which we use fluorescent labels to track multiple cell populations within a tumor. With this powerful system, we can control and modulate tumor heterogeneity in a reproducible way, and precisely spatially track constituent populations within a tumor. We are using these tools to study how tumor heterogeneity shapes immune activity and the spatial organization of immune cells within a tumor. Our ultimate goal is to improve the immune system’s ability to fight heterogeneous tumors, which are a complex target that currently respond more poorly to immunotherapies.
Potential postdoctoral projects include:
-Investigating how spatial organization of tumor antigens within the tumor impacts T cell trafficking and localization
-Studying mechanisms by which heterogeneous tumor cells create “micro-microenvironments” within a tumor that dictate immune infiltrates and immune function in their immediate vicinity
-Understanding how immunotherapy shapes tumor evolution, and how heterogeneous tumors evolve when they develop resistance to immune checkpoint blockade
The Reeves Lab is located at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where we are part of an outstanding community of cancer biologists and immunologists. The Huntsman Cancer Institute is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with a vibrant and supportive research environment and access to state-of-the-art facilities, sitting right on the steps of the Wasatch Mountains.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in immunology, cancer immunology, cancer biology or a related discipline. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and eager to develop and pursue an independent research trajectory.
